What Are we about?

The Beginning....

Steel City HRT and Weight Loss was founded due to the realization that resources for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) were limited due to the negative stigmas that surround it. Being a gym rat since high school I have always seen the effects of anabolics and developed a negative view of it but as I matured and began studying the world of medicine it became very clear how impactful adequate hormone levels could be. As I have gotten older, I have seen firsthand many friends and family members become riddled with issues stemming from hormone deficiency only to be told “Welcome to the club” or “Your hormones are not the issue” by medical professionals. Antidepressants and medications used to treat the secondary effects of hormone deficiency have become the standard and I am here to break that. I have strong views on HRT and having started it myself know exactly how beneficial it is. I am here to tell you that being tired all the time, having no motivation, having frequent bouts of sleepless nights, and having zero sex drive is NOT NORMAL. If you feel that the medical community is not listening to you or turning its back due to insurance and ultimately pharmaceutical oversight contact me and I can help.

Safety

Above optimizing hormones for both men and women in Pueblo I pledge to achieve this with your overall health as my number one priority. While hormone optimization is not without risks if prescribed, dosed, and monitored correctly can be completely safe and even improve baseline health.

Reasonable Cost

Times are tough and funds are tight in Pueblo. Several hormone replacement clinics charge outrageous prices for hormone replacement therapy limiting it to a select population. I believe that hardworking middle-class men and women should be able to feel the tremendous power of optimizing their hormones through HRT/TRT. I will provide fair and reasonable pricing for all.

FAQS

Why do you not take insurance?

While health insurance does serve a purpose in the realm of hormone optimization it is more of a barrier to care.  Strict criteria for treatment, limited formularies and outdated treatment guidelines do not make for optimization of any kind. By being a cash-based clinic, I am able to provide individualized care to a broader range of patient's using a wide variety of medications from several accredited compounding pharmacies.  In fact, a large portion of my patients are referred to me by primary care providers due to identifying the need for treatment but inability to be appropriately managed due to insurance.included in the treatment.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Absolutely not. Depending on the service it is either an automatic month-to-month subscription or pay-per-product. If you are on an automatic month-to-month prescription and want to cancel just let me know and it will be stopped. I understand that life happens and sometimes funds can get tight but I will always be here if you want to restart treatment.

Can I receive HRT treatments at home?

Absolutely! In fact, this is highly encouraged. You will be educated on the different methods of injection and shown how to do this prior to receiving your medication. Supplies will be provided and are included in the monthly subscription. If injections are something you are not comfortable with we can discuss other forms of treatment such as creams during the initial appointment.

Does TRT cause "Shut Down"?

While on TRT the normal pathways for natural testosterone production are decreased and/or stopped however once medication is discontinued these pathways start again. In short, yes TRT causes "shut down" but only while on the medication. The biggest take away from this is that your body will start to produce testosterone through the natural pathways once off of the medication. Please check out the BLOG for more information.

Does TRT cause “Roid Rage”?

The short answer is "no" however when used at the level of "abuse" androgenic hormones have been shown to increase aggression. There are many factors to this and frankly the benefits far outweigh the risks when prescribed by a licensed provider. Please check out the BLOG for more information.
